Priority Registration

First Advising Appointment for student admitted in Fall 2024

A meeting for new students to USM, in the first semester of attendance, with less than 54 credits completed, to answer any questions about USM you have, get to know each other, and to prepare you for the Priority Registration process at USM. Students should prepare for this meeting by creating a Wish List of courses!

Continuing First Year and Sophomore Students

Priority Registration meetings are to review classes for the upcoming academic semester/session. Students should prepare a wish list and come to the meeting with ideas on what classes they'd like to take or questions about their plan. Remember-I advise, you decide! These meetings typically occur from mid-October to the end of November for Spring classes or from mid-March to the end of April for summer and fall classes. Students with 54 or less completed credits, undeclared, or Conditionally Admitted students meet with their professional academic advisor for this appointment. Students with 54 or more credits meet with their faculty advisor for this appointment. Contact your major department directly or check your Maine Street Student center if you are unsure of your faculty advisor.

This is a meeting with your assigned professional advisor to discuss quick questions, change of major or minor, prior approval forms, study abroad applications or strategize about study skills. *Not available during the Priority Registration period.* Quick check in, study abroad, declaration of major, transferring questions, withdrawal from classes.
